race to the pole

i wonder why the author was intrested in this story and why he would choose  to write about it i wonder if he was one of the racers or if he was actualy following the racers but i think it would of have been more likley that he was told about this.where the racers his friends did he start the race i wonder if the authour was interested in the south pole. if the autor could become one of the racers if he wasn't then wich one would he be. i would be edward wilson because he is not much of a problem causer . i would also like to be scott because he is very smart courages .
