Automation, the application of machines to tasks once performed by human beings or, increasingly, to tasks that would otherwise be impossible.
Unemployment -
This is involving robots taking over jobs which could lead to unemployment but there will always be some jobs that robots may not be able to do.

Science/IST
Last lesson in Scince/IST we studied the way in which atoms become positive and negatively charged, this will help in our half yearly exams where we have to draw and explain the way atoms act and how it can be applied to our IST work.

Circuitry diagrams and there uses
1) Last Science Ist lesson I learnt about the use of symbols in circuitry diagrams. This enables us to create a plan of the system, and eventually be able to build our end product. This is an essential aspect of the creation process as it allows us to consider and evaluate the practicality of our circuitry.
Symbols in circuitry diagrams help in the visualization of projects. Whether the project is of a train loop system or the wiring of a household, engineers use this as an essential method of creation.


The effects of Automation
2)Last lesson we discussed the importance of near-total automation of industrial workplaces. I used the analogy of a double-edged sword whereby, factories gain pinpoint precision and a tireless worker which will maximize profitability. However, the downside to which has caused the most controversy is the fact that workers lose their jobs because of the advantages gained, the workers become obsolete. The bright side is, it opens up doors to people capable of programming, maintaining and building these machines, which is an ability that can be learnt. In conclusion, near compete automation is a good thing and should be accepted with an open mind, and has countless advantages both towards Artificial Intelligence and the average worker.

Microbit
3) Last Science/IST we worked on the usage of microbits. Microbits are a modifiable circuit capable of displaying programmed images, audio is also able to be added by soldering a sound emitting unit and then programmed accordingly. My group and I explored the microbits limitations by making increasingly difficult to display images, such as a star, a cross, and a plus with a box around it. Even though we were not able to use the sound emitters we still brainstormed different ways to which we could implement them into our pinball machine.

4) Last lesson we learnt about the uses of series and parallel circuits. In the series circuit, we connected out positive and negative wires to the provided power supply. We then hooked up the two light bulbs to the wires, we on served how the light bulb illuminated and dimmed at the control of the power knob. Our parallel circuit consisted of 2 light bulbs, an ammeter, switch, power source, and a voltmeter. By using Ahm's law we were able to calculate the amount of resistance and volts, to which were flowing through our circuit.
Microbit tutorials and coding knowledge
5)Last science/ IST lesson I worked on informing my group and familiarising myself with the microbit. This will be an effective way of improving my skill so that my group and I can make working toward the end product smoother and maximise our marks. Not only will it help in our end product, but it will also help us have a better understanding as we work toward our half-yearly examinations, which not to mention has a heavy weighting. In having this confidence and knowledge of the syllabus it will make us overall better at the subject.


The theme of our pinball machine
6) Last lesson my group and I worked on brainstorming different themes for our pinball machine. We came to a unanimous agreement that we would go with a theme based on the retro game Super Mario Games. We chose this as it would be the most appropriate taking into consideration the age group of our targeted audience. Our main goal is to draw attention toward our pinball machine by sparking nostalgia within our players. considering the vast majority of our audience would have grown up playing this game, they will feel refreshed in seeing it be relived into an already iconic machine. My group and I will be aiming to incorporate easter eggs and bring back noticeable characters as certain components of the pinball machine. One of the ideas we hope to include is to have Mario's model as the high scoring part of the game as it is large in nature and will feel rewarding when it is hit/activated.

7)last science Ist lesson, my group and I worked on the construction and graphics of our pinball machine. Initially, we were going to have our theme as the characters and icons from the Robots movie, this is proved to be difficult as a result of our inexperience in graphic design. we decided to completely change our theme and go with shovel knight. Super Mario Bros was and still is an extremely popular game and is one of the most recognisable figures around the world. Not to mention that the art style is 8-bit, meaning players minds naturally draw familiarities towards even older games. In conclusion, the Super Mario Bros idea will be more effective and efficient as we work toward our end product.

8) Last science/IST lesson my group and I worked on the production and wiring of our microbit. The way I tested whether or not the circuit to the microbit was complete, was by connecting an Xbox One controller to the device and mapping the button to the display. For example, button A could be used to display the symbol X on the screen. This is used to indicate as to whether or not any wiring issues are present. This will be effective as we work toward our end product, making all possibilities for mistakes reduced. Although there is a possibility for a mistake, In taking these extra precautions I hope that our system will be able to perform in the optimal environment.

9) Last science/IST lesson my group and I are in the final stages of the process of making our pinball machine and have made our graphics mesh in well with the pinball machine so that players don't have a visual overload. My group and I are finalising the wiring and programming for the pinball machine so that players have the best experience possible when playing. It is evident that we are trying to put as much emphasis as possible on the fact that we want the players to have the best experience possible, rather than taking shortcuts and not following through with our promises. Having a system that the players will enjoy is, in my opinion, the most satisfying part of making our end product.
Conclusion and evaluation of the project
In conclusion, this project was effective in not only effective in helping us use or creative skills through the design process and being able to voice our own opinion on a controversial concept, automation in the workplace.
